A unique and rare Grade II listed mill house sitting astride the River Stour, set in wonderful riverside gardens and overlooking the peaceful mill pond.Worten Mill is situated in a magical rural location in the charming undulating countryside just outside the popular village of Great Chart. Believed to date from the 18th century, the house is approached over a long drive that meanders through lovely gardens. The property is made up of the former miller's house and the ancient water mill. The mill race and wheel form a unique feature of the building with a viewing window from both the hall and sitting room, and the mill pond giving a tranquil setting.A wide, panelled oak door opens to the welcoming reception hall with a burnished brick floor. There are windows at floor level which look out onto the mill pond, and an internal window in the office/TV room (currently arranged as a bedroom) looks into the mill race and wheel. Stairs from the hall lead up to an impressive fitted library with adjoining study. The part full height drawing room has an unusual demi-lune window overlooking the mill pond. Wide brick steps lead down to the main reception space and ancient timbers create a cathedral-like atmosphere. This delightful room is the perfect place for relaxing.
