Designed by architect Dimitrie Hârjeu (Herjeu) in FrenchNeoclassical style, this impressive house is located downtown, in the vicinity of Cișmigiu Park, on the Mihail Kogălniceanu boulevard. The estimated construction year is 1927. The building preserves the plate with the architect’s signature. Before 1944, the house with over 34 rooms was the office of the Gestapo and German Embassy. After 1990, it hosted Rofilm – national society for cinematographic production. The architect Dimitrie Hârjeu (Călugăreni, Neamţ county, 1869 - 1926) was active after 1900, before the war but also during the blooming interwar period. He mainly created residences in the center of Bucharest, in an eclectic fashion with neoclassical features, and also in the NeoRomanian style of the epoch. Chief architect of Bucharest (1910- 1916), he was member of the management Committee of the Society of Romanian Architects. With renowned architects as Ion Mincu, Ion D. Berindei, Jean Monda, Horia Creangă, Dimitrie Hârjeu contributed to the shaping of the most iconic residential areas - Ioanid allotment and Filipescu allotment. The house has a courtyard of 430 sqm, space for up to ten vehicles. The generous rooms start from 30 sqm, 50 sqm, 60 sqm, up to 85 sqm and have plenty of storage spaces. In 2009, renovation works were initiated, stopped due to financial reasons.
