LIVING AND ENJOYING
Piet Boon designed and built the house, the garden was laid out under the architecture of Piet Oudolf. Two greats in their field, whose work harmoniously merges into a country house that can be called absolutely unique.
The house was built in a location where optimal enjoyment of a fascinating view of the wide polder landscape under endless Dutch skies and the much acclaimed Dutch light. The field of view reaches to the horizon, where heaven and earth meet. Only interrupted by the contours of a few farms. No unsightly electricity pylons, no wind farms, no apartment buildings or industry. Well the horses of the neighbor on the other side of the ditch, the blond swaying grass of Piet Oudolf in the backyard and the sunset that reflects in the cool swimming pond. Life is beautiful in the Green Heart of the Netherlands!
The current owner bought an old farm on this spot in 2006, which he wanted to renovate. "On closer inspection, the demolition of the drafting turned out to be the best option," he says. "The old farm was too bad. Because Piet Boon's style appeals to us, the choice was made who would design and build our new home quickly. We wanted a house to live and enjoy with our family, a house with lots of space, outdoor space and a beautiful light. The use of materials, the attention to detail and the perfect finish make this house a real dream house. It has become exactly as we had imagined it: a house that is understated on the front and opens at the rear. '
The mansion was designed in the traditional style of a farm, as you often encounter them in the Zaanstreek and West-Friesland, but bears the unmistakable signature of Piet Boon. Symmetry, application of natural materials and conservative colors, also in the interior, the zinc dormers and the partly zinc roof, the beautiful garden room with glass folding walls and fireplace at the rear and the modernist carport and outbuildings.
The special pool in a dark color with raised edge and overflow is a design by Piet Boon.
The interior is characterized by a pleasant size of the individual rooms, the kitchen / dining room as the pivot of the house and behind it a square living room with distinctive vertical fireplace and four sets of French doors on the southwest. The rooms are separated by tapered and sliding doors and there are integrated custom cabinets and wall units in the design throughout the house. The kitchen and pantry also come from the workshop of Piet Boon, which translates into sturdy oak fronts and cupboard doors, work tops of gray carved marble marble and taps and door handles in brushed stainless steel. Sliding doors separate the dining room from the intimate library / music room with fireplace and the adjacent study / office. The country house offers a total habitable surface of 350m², excluding guesthouse (50m²) and the outdoor storage of 30m².
The first floor is completely occupied by the master bedroom, the dressing room with fitted wardrobes and a luxurious bathroom; altogether over 80m². In the basement you will find two very spacious bedrooms with daylighting, one of which is now used as a fitness room and a comfortable second bathroom. Here is also the 'engine room' with all equipment and a state-of-the-art water treatment plant.
In the extension of the swimming pond in the backyard there is a spacious covered porch outbuilding / guesthouse with covered terrace, which is now in use as a studio. Here you will also find a sauna and a shower room. The garden of approximately 3,100m² explodes at the end of April in a sea of exotic colors and swaying grasses, the style with which Piet Oudolf has become world famous. On several terraces, one of them under the plane trees, it is then fully enjoyed. From the wonderful view and the rural peace and privacy in less than twenty minutes from Schiphol, Amsterdam and Utrecht. This is truly a home for bon vivants.
