This one-of-a-kind property boasts outstanding mountain views, sweeping meadows, abundant wildlife, riding trails, and Deer Creek flowing year-round with extensive water rights included. DCVR has a rich colorful history of a ‘real-deal’ working ranch, and now offers a stunning combination of chic modern elegance and rustic mountain fun. The pride of ownership is apparent with the impressive houses, buildings, and amenities that give this property a truly magical feel. Impeccably maintained, Deer Creek Valley Ranch also conveys a Conditional Use Permit, which allows for development, and thus the opportunity to expand upon the potential of this incredible property. In addition to the pine tree-lined driveway, aspens, rock out-croppings, landscaping, and custom outdoor patios with stone fireplaces, this ranch features multiple venues, each with their own impressive quality that makes them shine throughout. An exquisite example of the majesty of the property is the iconic Barn, as seen from Highway 285. Built in the 1800’s and fully restored, the 7,600 square foot Barn features three floors, each with their own character and unsurpassed “Wow” factor, leaving a lasting impression on both you and your guests. The main “Homestead House” is approximately 4,000 square feet. Built in the late 1940’s, it is a fully furnished ranch house that has been renovated to modern day standards, while still incorporating many of the intricacies of the vast history and traditions of the ranch. There are two guest-houses, as well as several multi-use buildings, on the property. The amazing setting, comprehensive details throughout, convenience of location, included water rights, and potential for expansion, make this a truly unique ownership opportunity. Homesteaded by the Parmalee family, the original Barn is estimated to have been built in 1862. It was crafted with hand-hewn timbers and wooden pegs, on a stone foundation. To put the timeline in perspective, Abraham Lincoln was still president at this time. If you look closely, you can even see an old water cistern, hand built into the rock, that once serviced the original residence on the property. What is now a quaint renovated cottage next to the Barn was once the stagecoach stop between Denver and Fairplay. Since it was a natural stopping place on the wagon road, George Parmalee capitalized on this by applying to open a post office there in 1870. The old stage road passed between the Barn and the original Ranch house. In 1927, that house burned and was replaced by one built just west of the Barn. The original location of the house lies in what is now the US Highway 285 right of way, with most of the original chimney now buried in highway fill, according to Harold Warren’s Bits and Pieces of History along the 285 Corridor. After the original Barn burned down, the current iconic Barn was acquired in Parker, cut in half, and brought up on the highway to rest on the original foundation. It is believed to be an old Sears barn, from the same mid-late 1800’s time-period. At that time, this barn kit from a Sears catalog cost a mere $841. The current Barn has been re-engineered and updated to today’s standards, and the rest of the Ranch has been meticulously restored for present and future generations to enjoy.
