Le Ballon Rouge is a 1904 Victorian homestead that has been lovingly restored and extended into a luxury boutique guest house. It is located in the historical village of Franschhoek where the French Huguenots settled in 1688 after fleeing religious persecution in their homeland. Franschhoek is now renowned as the Gourmet and Wine Capital of South Africa. This picturesque village is surrounded by awesome mountains which provide spectacular views from everywhere in the village.
Le Ballon Rouge boasts 10 luxury suites including the penthouse suite which is an enormous 100sqm and offers exceptional panoramic views from a private deck featuring a modern spa that will ensure complete relaxation and tranquillity. There is an industrial kitchen and bakery and it is sold fully equipped. It is only 50m from the Village centre, so once here, visitors can walk in and around the village.
Franschhoek is a very popular tourist destination and high occupancies are possible. Throughout the year there are celebratory Festivals e.g The Literary Festival in May, Bastille Day in July, Franschhoek Uncorked in September, Open Gardens in November and Champagne Festival in December to name but a few. The village is always packed at these times as well as most weekends when people love to escape to Franschhoek, even from as close as Cape Town which is a mere 70km away and has an international airport.
As John Cleese recently said in an interview on a South African radio station; “It is one of the most beautiful valleys in the world.”
