Raguvėlė manor is one of the biggest homesteads in Lithuania, an architectural monument of state significance. The estate was first mentioned in written sources back in the 17th century. It was owned by the landlords Sokolowski, later was purchased by a swordsman of Ukmergė Mikaloj Komar. The famous dynasty of Komar originating from Ukraine managed the manor until 1940 when it was nationalized and educational institutions were established in it. The major valuable of the manor is the architectural ensemble which is composed of 22 structures. Some of them were restored. It is one of the rare cases in Lithuania where the entire complex of buildings has survived – the two-storey central palace of white masonry, the officine, a shed for carriages and other stuff, two octagonal barns of the late classicism designed by an architect Tomas Tishewski, chapel–mausoleum in the style of pseudo-gothic architecture, a gardener’s house, a windmill, a stabling, a workshop of a smith, buildings of spirit distillery, etc. The construction of the manor ensemble started in the 18th century and was completed in the early 20th century. Over this time, styles of architecture changed, therefore, the structures of the ensemble reflect the styles of classicism, romanticism of the 19th century, and contain neo-gothic elements and details of local ethnography. Up until nowadays, the architecture and the interior design of the manor has featured numerous authentic details – the elaborate decorations of the portico pediment which depicts the trophies of hunters, the glazed tile furnaces, the patterned parquets, the mosaics of ceramic tiles... The manor has a wonderful park with the area of 8 ha which is of a mixed style but has elements of geometric arrangement prevailing – the parterre and individual groups of buildings which are connected by alleys. There is a small pond near the manor. It complements the landscape part of the park. The territory still has the river of Juosta which was dammed up in the old days. There is also the so called monkey bridge which has survived to date. In the park, you will mainly find the local species of trees – the small-leaved linden, the ash, the maple, the wych elm, the pine, the oak, the willow, the birch. But there are also some exotic trees: the northern white-cedar, the European larch, silver larch, the black locust, the grey poplar, the large-leaved linden... The adornment of the park is the southern catalpa which blooms with white flowers in summer. The manor homestead has a big potential as you can establish not only an exclusive residence here but also set up a complex of tourism, an organic farm, practice beekeeping, gardening and similar activities, make use of the stabling, brewery and other structures. The abundance of buildings enables the development of recreational as well as educational or health care and health promotion establishments. Some of the residential buildings of the manor: The building “school” – 1,733 sqm; The building “hotel” – 399 sqm; The building “residential house” – 843 sqm; The building “residential house” – 554 sqm; The building “residential house” – 127 sqm; The remainder of the residential and auxiliary buildings accounts for more than 11,000 sqm of the total area.
