A superb arrangement of period farmhouse, cottages, outbuildings and land idyllically located within Dartmoor National Park; almost the only sound is birdsong.A skilfully restored period home with excellent ancillary accommodation and leisure facilities created for family life. The property is situated in an outstanding setting. Approached by a long private drive which terminates at the entrance to the property, the drive leads to what is a completely private settlement with the significant benefit of no rights of way/footpaths across it. Originally a working farm and part of the neighbouring Bovey Castle estate, the property was acquired by the present owner in 2005 whereupon a comprehensive programme of improvement, restoration and alteration was undertaken, with works completed by November 2006. The resulting property is superb. The farmhouse was enlarged and improved to provide ideal living space for a family, with architectural features such as granite fireplaces and floor to ceiling sliding glass doors alongside new oak joinery, under floor heating (biomass), plumbing, wiring and, most importantly, flowing living spaces. The best example is the kitchen/breakfast room which is very much the hub of the house with its wide openings to the sitting room which in turn has glazed elevations and sliding doors opening onto the gardens providing stunning views across the valley Very much an area for day to day family life. Adjacent is a barn with WC. The boilers housed in a barn serve the whole site. The gardens and grounds are landscaped and have been thoughtfully designed to incorporate the original dry stone walls, farm tracks, mature trees and the cart wash. As is common on Dartmoor, large granite stones border gateways and these are complemented by bespoke contemporary wooden gates. Open lawns and flagstone seating areas with colourful perennial beds and a climber covered pergola border the house and take full advantage of the sunny aspect and fine views. Close to the house a delightful working kitchen garden has been established with raised beds and is enclosed by dry stone walling. Beyond this stands the tennis court and from here the gardens border fields.
