Zebra Vineyards produce grapes that appear in several awarding winning wines, from two world-class blocks of Pinot Noir vines. Located in the most southern wine region of the world - Central Otago, Bendigo is home to some of the best vineyards in the region.
The property comprises 73.48 hectares, made up of 55.52 hectares at Bendigo on the Tarras-Cromwell Road and 17.96 hectares with two architecturally designed homes at Chinaman’s Terrace.
With soils ideal for viticulture these two sites consistently produce premium wine. First planted in 2003, the Bendigo Flat vineyard is comprised of northwest facing rows, with the slightest undulation across 23.37 hectares planted in Pinot Noir. An additional 7 hectares has just been planted on this Tarras-Cromwell Road block. Chinaman’s Terrace was first planted in 2005 also in Pinot Noir over 4.45 hectare.
Over the years, Zebra's dedication has been showcased in many single vineyard designate wines, including Craggy Range, Mt. Difficulty ‘Growers Series’ and Grant Taylor’s renowned Valli. The fruit is described as robust and with complex characters, full-bodied, 'distinctly Bendigo' fruit.
Accolades include Best Pinot Noir in New Zealand, Best Wine out of Central Otago, Best Single Vineyard Red Wine in New Zealand for the Thornbury Pinot Noir, Central Otago 2018 , 100% fruit from the Bendigo Flat block . (NZ Wine Awards 2019) .
Followed more recently by the Valli Bendigo Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018 claiming the NZ Winegrower Trophy for Champion Pinot Noir at the Royal Easter Wine Show , 100% fruit from the Chinaman’s Terrace block.
This spectacular vineyard has all of the infrastructure in place to support additional plantings. An elevated terrace also provides scope for the development of a gravity-fed winery, capable of processing 400 tonnes at full production, opportunities for a cellar door, restaurant and retail store complex.
Chinaman’s Terrace boasts two luxury residences in outstanding natural landscape designed by Charlie Nott, one of 323 sq m and a guest house of 213 sq m.
