Welcome home to the Heights at Carver Hills! Located in the City of Doraville well-known for its vibrant cultural diversity, thriving businesses, and impeccable shopping/dining experiences. Doraville, GA was incorporated by an act of the Georgia General Assembly on December 15, 1871. From its development until the 1940s, Doraville was a small agricultural community that served the interests of a larger surrounding farming area. By the end of World War II, Doraville was on the main railroad line and had a new water system available. This caused the growth of Doraville to explode into the late 1940s and the 1950s. In 1947, General Motors selected Doraville as the site for its new assembly plant.
Upon purchasing the land for their new assembly plant, many homeowners were displaced. As part of the purchase and development of the plant and surrounding land, GM promised to help relocate the residents to a new neighborhood. General Motors purchased the land from local land owners and in 1949, Carver Hills was born.
Named for American scientist, George Washington Carver, the Carver Hills neighborhood was originally established in 1949 on 150 acres north of downtown Doraville near Winters Chapel Road and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Among other conveniences, the new subdivision featured a school, churches, water, lights, and paved streets. Eventually, the community was carved in half by I-285 and the extension of Peachtree Industrial Blvd.
In 2015, Century Communities assembled a team of brokers, sellers, legal, research, and finance to rezone and acquire 34 parcels of land for the future residential development of approximately (200) 3-story, 24’ wide townhouses and approximately (50) 40’ wide, single-family detached homes. Century Communities has retained the name Carver Hills to pay homage to Carver.
