This fantastic "possesió" - Pedruxella Gran - is in an idyllic setting on 600 acres, located in the heart of the Sierra de Tramuntana, a newly designated UNESCO reserve, just outside the seaside town of Pollensa. The property is comprised by 3 residential buildings and can be rented as a whole or separately. Main House: comprised of six bedroom and five bathrooms, plus a private library off the master suite. The main kitchen is the hub of the house, full of light and including top-of-the-line appliances. The house has a numerous fireplaces and wood burning stoves. It also features a Moorish tower which dates back from the XIII century and spectacular round pool with shaded grotto just behind the house. The house flows beautifully around two courtyards, one called “patio de señores” and another one called “patio de trabajo”, which includes the historic olive press and brick bread baking ovens that are still in use today. Guest lodge: great hall of 30 by 70 feet which resembles and old hunting lodge, kitchen, two bedrooms plus a bathroom and two patios. Guest house: a short distance from the main house enjoying privacy and spectacular views, the guest house boasts a large family room with kitchen, dining and living area, three double bedrooms and bathroom. Stables, organic fruit and vegetable gardens, and ancient aqueduct and working olive press, all surrounded by dramatic terraces of 500 year old olive trees complete this amazing property. A nearby old Arabian arch is partly covered by a newer one with the date, 1810, chiseled into the mortar, reminding viewers that the house was built over centuries. The family that has owned the estate for forty years has undertaken significant refurbishment of the house, including upgrading all systems, redoing the roofs, and adding heating and air conditioning. All the refurbishments were done with the best materials and in keeping with the history and feel of the house. There is a stable nearby and, a bit further from the house, another barn with stables for five horses, and enclosures for goats and chickens. Surrounding this stable are orchards with fruit trees and a green garden for growing seasonal vegetables. The estate has plenty of garage and outdoor parking. Pedruxella Gran boasts more than 2,000 olive trees, most of them dating back 500 years. Surrounding the main house are cypresses, many varieties of fruit, and carob trees. The situation is idyllic - the estate is located high up, giving it a great feeling of privacy and protection. Its orientation makes it very sunny in the winter and cooler in the summer. The estate has a long history of agricultural production, especially olives, and it produces an excellent commercial organic extra virgin olive oil. It has its own Tafona - possibly the last working press of its kind on the island. Each year a fiesta is held to make olive oil in the traditional manner.
