The current owners have lived at Green Acres for 34 years and extended the house significantly during that period. The house sits in an enviable and elevated position overlooking the village of Laughton to the south, surrounded by its considerable grounds and gardens, with paddock land stretching to the north.
The oak front door opens onto a Brazillian Rio Ferada slate hall with French doors and stairs ahead. Turning right takes you to a snug, which has an open fire within a stunning Westmoreland slate fireplace and hearth. Beyond this is a drawing room, which has a stone fireplace with an open fire and is wonderfully bright, having a triple aspect.
To the left of the front door is a cloakroom and, adjacent to this, a door leads through to the dining room, which has the same slate flooring as the hall. The flooring continues through to the kitchen beyond where there is a range of farmhouse style units with beech work surfaces with a Westmoreland slate splashback, a double Belfast sink and a striking dark blue, 4 oven, oil fired Aga.
The kitchen leads through to a rear hall off which runs a utility room to one side and a sitting room with, effectively, a glazed wall of windows overlooking the garden. A door leads through from the sitting room to the integral double garage.
Upstairs, the principal bedroom occupies the far northeast corner of the house and has an en suite bathroom. A corridor connects the remaining five bedrooms, one of which has an en suite bathroom. There are a further two bathrooms and copious under eaves storage in the corridor.
Outside
A five bar gate opens onto a gravel drive, which leads to a parking area to the north of the house. To the north of this is a double garage connecting to a further outbuilding, which includes two storerooms, a woodshed, tool shed and workshop.
The garden wraps around the house and is bordered by beech hedges with mature beds and plantings throughout. To the east is a Scotts of Thrapston summer house. There are three paddocks; one to the south-east of the house of about 0.75 acres, one to the north of circa 1 acre, which has a wooden barn, and one to the north of this, reached by crossing a green lane, of 2.9 acres.
