A truly unique, 505 acre, turn-key whitetail, waterfowl and turkey hunting property in Chariton County, Missouri located 10 miles from Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Grand Pass Conservation Area and the Dalton Cut-Off. “The Crossing” was given its name based on its location, which is in the heart of the world-renowned 'Golden Triangle' in North Missouri.
This WRP tract has over 100 acres of permanent water in one of the largest natural oxbows in the state and also features an additional 100 acres of seasonal wetlands. When a fall flood takes place, The Crossing has the ability to hold more than 325 acres of water across the majority of the property providing an even greater waterfowl hunting opportunity without sacrificing the deer hunting. More than 100 acres of mature timber crowd the levees along the perimeter of the property and along the river. The remaining 200 acres is comprised of dense cover including old field habitat that is an exceptional sanctuary for whitetail and nesting cover for turkeys.
The wetlands have all of the water level management capability to flood multiple pools on dry years, from one location using a deep water well and 40 hP well head capable of producing more than 2600 gpm. A bald eagle's nest is perched over the deep oxbow that wraps around the west side of the property. Thousands of migrating waterfowl utilize the historic wetland features each year that is provided by the exceptional habitat in an extremely secluded area. The wetland pools are covered with highly-productive moist-soil habitat included more than 125 acre stand of wild millet and Pennsylvania smartweed.
No Less than 15 acres strategically placed food plots are already established with nice 4'x6' deer blinds overlooking them. In the last 11 years, 13 bucks measuring 150" or better have been harvested at The Crossing, including two 170"+ bucks killed on the same day out of the same stand. Two bucks grossing 184" were also harvested along the Grand River which acts a natural travel corridor for monster bucks cruising the river during the rut. The large oxbows and wetlands act as natural pinch points which concentrate deer movement in predictable locations on this 500 acre refuge. The 1.5 miles of river frontage allows you to boat in to the most secluded and remote locations on the property scent-free and undetected by weary old bucks.
The amount of deer sign on this farm is unbelievable, just check out the deer trails that can be seen from the drone photos. It is simply unbelievable how many deer call The Crossing home.
